Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

For the Frosting:

  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • Black food colouring (optional for web design)
  • Dark chocolate (melted, for web and spiders)

Steps:

  1. Get the oven ready: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Use Oil as well as flour in two 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. Make the Cake Batter: Mix butter and sugar in a large bowl until frothy. After adding each egg, beat well. Stir in vanilla. Mix baking powder, flour and salt in a different bowl. Add dry ingredients to the wet mixture slowly, alternating with milk, until mixed.
  3. Bake cakes: Distribute batter across the two pans. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean, 25-30 minutes. Let them cool in pans for at least 10 minutes before shifting to a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. Frosting recipe: Make buttercream icing while the cakes cool. In a large basin, beat softened butter smooth. Add powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract gradually and whisk until frothy. For a Halloween-themed foundation, add black food colouring to the icing.
  5. Frost the Cake: Once the cakes are fully cooled, spread a layer of frosting between the two cake layers, then cover the top and sides with an even layer of frosting.
  6. Create the Spiderweb: Melt dark chocolate in the microwave or over a double boiler. Transfer the melted chocolate to a piping bag or a plastic zip-top bag with the tip snipped off. Pipe a large spiral starting from the centre of the cake, then use a toothpick or knife to drag lines from the centre outward to create the spiderweb effect.
  7. Add Spiders: Use the remaining melted chocolate to pipe small spider bodies.
  8. Chill and Serve: Let the cake chill in the fridge for 20-30 minutes before serving to allow the frosting and decorations to set. This will help the spider web design hold its shape.
Conclusion: This Spiderweb Halloween Cake is not only visually stunning but also incredibly delicious. With its spooky design and rich, buttery flavour, it’s sure to be a hit at any Halloween event. Made with Eggoz eggs, the dark chocolate spiderweb and creepy spiders add the perfect touch of Halloween fun, while the fluffy buttercream frosting ties everything together. Serve this cake at your Halloween party, and watch your guests marvel at your spooky creation!
